Places To Visit
  • Ellis Island (The Birthplace of Susan Ellis)
  • Smithsonian in Washington DC. The American History Museum has an exhibit titled "America on the Move" and the American Indian Museum, Natural History, and Anacostia Museum would also be good choices.
  • Pilgrimages - some more-acknowledged secular ones in the United States include Graceland and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • Museum of Appalachia in Norris, Tennessee - the migration of Appalachians has consisted of persistently large numbers over a number of decades
  • Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, North Carolina seems to have a decent exhibit on the Trail of Tears
  • Lower East Side Tenement Museum; documents the immigrant experience and tenement living.
  • On the subject of forced migrations (a la The Trail of Tears) the Holocaust museum in DC is always good (Yad Vashem is a bit far away, but is a far better Holocaust museum)
  • The Museum of Bus Transportation in Hershey, Pennsylvania
  • America On Wheels Museum in Allentown
  • We could also visit the Islamic cultural center and Mosque in Allentown. I promise that it will not make you become a terrorist.
